This week the EPA posted a report on its website indicating glyphosate is not likely to be carcinogenic to humans. Later the agency withdrew the listing saying it was inadvertently put there and their review of the product is continuing. Monsanto’s Sam Murphy says the herbicide glyphosate has a long history of safety and effectiveness.
He says even the EPA’s cancer assessment review committee has said during the product’s review that glyphosate doesn’t cause cancer.
Murphy is confident once the EPA completes its review of glyphosate it will find the herbicide non-carcinogenic and safe.
An EPA spokesman noted that their review is on-going and they’ll look at the work of other governments, as well as work with the Department of Health and Human Services to reach a decision.
