The Environmental Protection Agency will release a single draft rule to expand E15 sales and make RIN market reforms. Both the American Coalition for Ethanol and the Renewable Fuels Association want the RINs and E15 rules handled separately. ACE CEO Brian Jennings says combining complicates the approval process.
He says if the rule is slowed down it lessens the chance for getting E15 approval in time for the summer driving season.
Jennings says President Trump said four months ago he wanted year-round use of E15 approved and it still hasn’t been done.
The rule was expected to be released in draft form this month, but the government shutdown delayed the rule making process. The EPA is still expecting to complete the rule by June 1, the start of the summer driving season.
