The Environmental Protection Agency wants to take a second look at its 2018 decision to grant 31 small refiner exemptions to the Renewable Fuel Standard. National Biodiesel Board’s Paul Winters says their biofuels coalition wanted those exemptions vacated however EPA didn’t ask for the vacation but only for the opportunity to review their earlier decision.

He says with the SRES just remanded and left in EPA;s hands doesn’t ensure they’ll be thrown out which is what the biofuels coalition wants.

Winters says the biofuels coalition is working for some type of legislative remedy to this problem.

Winters says if the SRES are left in place it’ll just continue injuring the biodiesel industry and leaving it in a state of uncertainty.
