Environmental Protection Agency officials say there are no risks to public health when glyphosate is used in accordance with its current label and that it’s not a carcinogen. That’s despite a federal jury in California awarding a man there $80 million following a link between his use of roundup and his Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Bayer is appealing that verdict. South Dakota farmer and American Soybean Association Board member Brandon Wipf says he uses the product and has never had any problem with it.
He says sound science over the years has proven glyphosate is a safe and effective product.
Wipf says the EPA also does a thorough job of testing herbicides before approving them and did extensive research on glyphosate.
Wipf is confident that science will prevail as Bayer, maker of Roundup, continues with its appeal.
