An Environmental Protection Agency report out last week found that four out of 10 lakes in the U.S. suffer from high levels of nitrogen and phosphorus. Terry Vanderpol with the Minnesota Land Stewardship Project says his group has been working with farmers to prevent and reduce that type of run-off.
He says assisting farmers in their effort to improve soil health is part of the solution.
Vanderpol says farmers, however, aren’t the only ones responsible for lake pollution.
The EPA says nutrient pollution is one of America’s most widespread and costly environmental and public health challenges.
