This week the Environmental Protection Agency issued a Notice of Data Availability, seeking comment on potential options for reducing biomass-based diesel, advanced biofuel and total renewable fuel volumes. That would be included in EPA’s recent 2018 RFS Renewable Volume Obligation proposed rule. National Biodiesel Board member and Nebraska farmer Greg Anderson says it’s concerning that the agency wants to lower the mandated levels.

He says if the RFS volumes are lowered it will stop possible expansion in the biodiesel industry, while creating uncertainty.

Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO Bob Dinneen says if EPA moves ahead with their plan, it will negatively impact the entire renewable fuels industry.

Dinneen says reducing RFS volumes also hurts U.S. consumers.
