The Environmental Protection Agency is mulling over a potential label change for E15 at gas pumps. An announcement could come soon but there’s no detail yet on how the Trump Administration might alter the labeling. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says that rumor came about because of a meeting held last September in the White House between Senator Joni Ernst and the President and others on biofuels. He says that label change was one of the promises.

He says the present label on E15 is misleading because it leads consumers to believe there’s a danger with using the fuel, most of it tied to the label’s color.

Shaw says the President could do more to help enhance the selling of E15 and higher biofuels going forward.

The current E15 labeling warns of possible engine damage to older vehicles.
