The Environmental Protection Agency is once again delaying their decision on 2019 through 2021 compliance deadlines on the Renewable Volume Obligations under the Renewable Fuels Standard. American Coalition for Ethanol CEO Brian Jennings says once again the agency is not following the law.
Jennings says EPA doesn’t have a good reason for extension and has given no date for releasing the RVOs, so they’re just playing politics with the RFS.
They also fear EPA will go back to 2020 to lower the mandated biofuels volumes due to lower production during the height of COVID, which may land them back in court.
He says the agency is also going to miss the deadline for the 2022 volumes which is November 30.
