The Environmental Protection Agency has released its preliminary decision giving interim approval to the use of the herbicide, atrazine. Nebraska Corn Growers Association and Corn Board Executive Director Kelly Brunkhorst is encouraging producers to submit their comments on atrazine prior to the deadline.

He says atrazine has been proven to be safe as long as those applying the product follow the label.

Brunkhorst says while the interim decision is positive for producers, comments are needed as the review process on atrazine isn’t over yet.

The deadline to submit comments is March 2 and producers can send those in by logging onto Nebraskacorn.org.
