EPA Faces Lawsuits Over Clean Water Rule

North Dakota Stockmen’s Association leaders are supporting Western State Attorneys General in their lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers over their Clean Water rule. Stockmen’s Executive Vice President, Julie Ellingson says the agencies’ proposed rule has many problems.

Ellingson says it was necessary to move forward with the litigation after the EPA and the Corps listened to concerns and continued ahead with the rule anyway, disregarding warnings about the problems with the regulation.

Attorneys General from North and South Dakota and 11 other states filed their case in a U.S. District Court in North Dakota. Meanwhile, 15 other state Attorneys General filed their own lawsuit against the EPA and the Corps.
