This weekend, Environmental Protection Agency Ag Liason Sarah Bittleman spoke to farmers at the South Dakota Corn Growers Annual meeting. She says their proposal to reduce the volume requirements in the Renewable Fuel Standard is just a proposal. Bittleman says her agency supports the RFS and took a lot of analyses into account when coming up with the proposal.

Bittleman encourages people to submit their comments into EPA and reminds them the deadline is January 28. She says they’ll consider all the comments before issuing a final RFS rule.

Bittleman says EPA recognizes there is a lot of concern over the RFS volume requirement plan and that the agency will carefully evaluate all of the comments that are submitted.
