The Environmental Protection Agency is holding a hearing in Kansas City this Thursday on their proposal for volume requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard. Renewable Fuels Association President and CEO, Bob Dinneen will be testifying. He says he’s going to tell the agency to fix their proposal, so the RFS follows the intent of Congress.
EPA has proposed cutting the RFS for corn ethanol by 3.75 billion gallons through 2016. Dinneen says if EPA’s proposal holds up it’ll create a depressed ethanol market.
Dinneen says EPA officials need to realize there is no shortage of U.S. ethanol supply, there’s only a shortage of demand and the agency needs to re-read the law.
