Environmental Groups Disapprove House Budget Resolution

Environmental Working Group officials are not happy with the House Budget Resolution released this week. E-W-G Policy Analyst Mike Lavender says the resolution is a backwards approach toward reducing the federal deficit. He says it cuts food assistance in favor of backing high farm subsidies.

Lavender says there are several areas that could be cut that would achieve budget savings. He says one example is crop insurance.

Lavender also says that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program had a historic low fraud rate in 2013 while over the last several years the fraud rate for the crop insurance program has been rising.
