Environmental activists will be knocking on doors across Minnesota this summer trying to curb the use of polystyrene foam cups and containers. Tim Schaefer with Environment Minnesota says a change has to be initiated by businesses.

Businesses use styrofoam because of its relatively low cost and it’s adaptability for packaging. Schaefer says much of the foam ends up buried in landfills, burned in incinerators or turns into litter.
