The U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee has included four positive Cuba trade amendments in their Fiscal year 2017 appropriations legislation. The Engage Cuba Coalition is pleased with that development. Coalition member and Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill says if that can get passed will help foster trade with Cuba.

He says the amendment calling for extending private sector credit and lifting port restrictions is an important provision that is needed.

Hill says the amendment calling for lifting of the travel ban is also positive.

Hill is hoping Congress will eventually lift the trade embargo but says that will take more time.
