The Engage Cuba Coalition was formed in Iowa this weekend when Cuba’s Ag Minister visited the Hawkeye state. Engage member Grant Kimberly, who serves as Market Development Director for the Iowa Soybean Association, says the Cubans are very interested in U.S. seed technology.

Iowa Corn Grower’s President Bob Hemesath is also a member and says his group wants Congress to lift the trade embargo.

Hemesath says Iowa’s agriculture industry stands to gain greatly from enhanced trade with Cuba. He says besides lifting the embargo, allowing Cuba to purchase products on credit is another key.

The Engage Cuba Coalition also has councils in six other states including: Minnesota, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas and Louisiana.
