A legislative hearing at the state Capitol in Lincoln served as a forum to air grievances about TransCanada and its potential use of eminent domain to build the Keystone XL oil pipeline through Nebraska.
The bill seems aimed directly at TransCanada…so much so that Senator Colby Coash of Lincoln sees constitutional problems emerging. . .
Dave Domina of Omaha, who has represented several landowners suing Trans Canada told the committee a bill that would change state pipeline siting law appears aimed only at TransCanada, which is a problem. . .
The bill would prohibit a foreign company from exercising eminent domain. An official with TransCanada says the company would only use eminent domain to build Keystone XL under the parameters set out by state law.
