Emergency Declaration Could Lead to Federal Government Opening

The partial shutdown of the federal government continues, with no immediate end in sight.
There are some questions of why President Trump decided it was urgent now to push for a border wall, when he didn’t during two years of republican control of Congress.
South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says they have asked the President the same questions…

Rounds says the President is pointing to the number of people and illegal drugs coming across the border..

The President is considering declaring the border situation a national emergency which would allow him to move money around to start construction of the wall.
Rounds says such a move may actually speed up the re-opening of the federal government…

Rounds says the issue needs to be settled between House democrats and the President.
