Electric Rates for Nebraska Public Power to Remain Steady

The Nebraska Public Power District has announced that their retail customers will see no increase in their electric rates next year. This is the second year that rates for residents have remained steady, and wholesale utility customers will only see an increase of about half a percent. President and CEO for NPPD, Pat Pope, says the slight rate increase for wholesale customers comes from the construction of transmission lines, but cost cutting has allowed them to pass their savings along.

Pope says the cuts were made without compromising the reliability or safety of their service, and he says those efforts will continue.

NPPD retail customers reside in 81 communities throughout the state, while wholesale customers include rural public power districts and municipalities.
