A measure proposing Nebraska revert to the winner-take-all distribution of presidential electors has cleared an important hurdle, yet still faces an uncertain future.
Supporters broke a filibuster without a vote to spare when Senator Bob Krist of Omaha switched…and cast a ballot to end eight hours of debate he called a waste of time. . .
Krist hopes the next round spurs better debate on whether Nebraska should award votes to the Electoral College as a block or by Congressional district. He gives no guarantee he will vote to end the filibuster next time.
Sponsor Beau McCoy, a state senator from Omaha, won’t concede he will face another filibuster. . .
Maine is the only other state that doesn’t have a winner-take-all formula.
