The National Association of Egg Farmers is exploring various trade opportunities for its industry. Association President Ken Klippen says although China is a leading global egg producer, poultry production is expected to decrease by 10 to 15 percent in 2017. As a result, his group is sending a representative there to see what market possibilities there are there for U.S. eggs.
Klippen says there are other far east countries his organization is also looking at for expanding the U.S. egg export market.
He says Cuba could also be a lucrative market for U.S. eggs if all the trade restrictions can be lifted.
Klippen says his Association is working with a coalition of farm groups to persuade Congress to lift the Cuban trade embargo.
