An effort is being made in the Nebraska legislature to help county officials better evaluate the agricultural expansion permits that come before them.

Jay Rempe with the Farm Bureau says the bureau backs a proposal that would provide county officials with an assessment matrix to more soundly evaluate proposals to expand agricultural operations. . .

Rempe says Nebraska has great potential to expand dairy production, hog operations, as well as poultry if local officials more thoroughly evaluate proposals.
