Educational Cooperative To Be Investigated

Governor Dennis Daugaard has asked the Government Operations and Audit Committee of the legislature to review the financial operations of the Mid Central Educational Cooperative.

That co-op handles grant money from the state to operate educational initiatives.

Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton, a member of that committee, says there appears to be a lack of follow up on the use of that grant money…

Hunhoff says the lines of responsibility and audits are not clear…

Hunhoff says the problems appear to begin as the grant money flowed from the co-op to their subcontractors running the various programs…

The committees next scheduled meeting is October 30th.
