The first round of public hearings by the “Blue Ribbon Task Force on Education” has wrapped up. The group of legislators, educators and citizens was appointed by Governor Dennis Daugaard to find a consensus solution for K – 12 funding.

Sutton says the public input he has heard so far is about what he expected…

 

He says that especially hurts students in rural areas.

Sutton says one issue that comes up over and over is another funding source for education…

 

The Task Force will deliver its report to the Governor and the 2016 legislature later this fall.
