Edmunds County South Dakota commissioners sitting at the Board of Adjustment held an appeals hearing Monday on a proposed 5,000 turkey hen facility. Board Chairman Robert Olson says because of a glitch on the posting of their meeting they decided to refer the building permit issue back to the County Planning and Zoning Board.

He says they posted the meeting on the door of the Courthouse but failed to get it up on their website. Olson says because of that they decided to follow proper procedure and have the Planning and Zoning Commission weigh in.

Some residents asked for the appeals hearing after the building permit was issued because of environmental and odor concerns. Olson says the Farm Holdings 12 LLC that owns the project has state of the art equipment to handle many of those concerns.

Olson says their Board wants to ensure that all sides are heard on the issue and that the proper procedures are followed.
