It was a very stormy Monday in Springfield (SD). Strong winds in an early morning storm caused extensive damage to home on the south side of the small town.
Todd Heitkamp from the National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls surveyed the damage……

There was no warning issued before the storm hit. Heitkamp says the storm intensified as it crossed the Missouri River from the south west…..

Heitkamp says the geography of the area played into the damage…..

Over three hundred volunteers along with local government agencies from south east South Dakota helped with the clean-up from the storm.
