Two mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Minnesota. It’s the earliest the virus has been detected in the state since 2006.

 

Mike McLean with the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District says the infected mosquitoes came from the metro area. He says so far, the risk to the public isn’t too severe–human cases aren’t typically reported until late July. Mosquitoes get the virus by feeding on infected birds.
