The largest growth area in biofuels in Minnesota is E15. Minnesota Bio Fuels Association Executive Director Tim Rudnicki says there’s been an increase in use and sales across the state with significant progress made in the metro areas.
He says they’re awaiting the lifting of the Reid Vapor Pressure rule, so E15 fuel can be sold year-round. Rudnicki says it takes a long time to recover the volume they lose not being able to offer E15 during the summer.
Rudnicki says while they’re pleased President Trump has promised year-round use of E15, EPA hasn’t released a rule yet.
Rudnicki says right now E15 fuel is 5 to 10-cents per gallon less expensive than regular gas.
