E Verify Legislation Moves Forward

E Verify Legislation Moves Forward

Late last week the House Judiciary Committee passed out the Legal Workforce Act, a measure that mandates E Verify. The National Council of Farmer Cooperatives and the Ag Workforce Coalition are disappointed with the move and still is opposing the legislation. NCFC President and CEO Chuck Connor says even though Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte indicated he’d support a guest worker program says that isn’t enough to make the bill work.

Connor says full immigration reform is needed before E Verify should even be considered and the guest worker program is currently not workable so that doesn’t solve the problem.

Connor expects the Legal Workforce Act to come up in the full house sometime this month.
