The Senior CLASS Award named South Dakota State forward Jordan Dykstra as a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American Thursday. That makes him the first-ever Jackrabbit and Summit League men’s basketball player to earn the honor.

“We’re very proud of all that Jordan has accomplished during his time at South Dakota State,” head coach Scott Nagy said. “It’s no small thing to even be nominated for this award, and there are many fine young men on this list. He has represented himself and this university with great distinction.”

The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I men’s basketball coaches, national basketball media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I men’s basketball. To gain eligibility for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – classroom, community, character and competition.

A Rock Valley, Iowa Native, Dykstra led the Jackrabbits in 2013-14 with 16.0 points per game and led The Summit League with 7.6 rebounds per game and with nine double-doubles.

In the classroom, Dykstra maintains a 3.71 GPA as a biology/pre-dentistry major and made the Dean’s List in every semester at South Dakota State.

The voting group named Doug McDermott, a three-time All-American from Creighton as the 2014 Senior CLASS Award recipient.
