Local, state and federal law enforcement joined efforts in the arrest of 20 people Tuesday in Omaha connected to a Mexican Sinaloa methamphetamine drug cartel. Retired Omaha Police Department gang expert Bruce Ferrell says that doesn’t mean meth has been wiped out.
Ferrell says there has been drug cartel presence in the Omaha metro area for at least 15 years.
Ferrell says cartels typically have more than one distribution ring in a city and will recruit new or send current members to the area to pick up the slack.
