A stormy, destructive June did provide some benefit to Nebraska.
Climatologist Brian Fuchs with the National Drought Mitigation Center in Lincoln says the heavy rains the storms brought ended the drought as far more than normal rainfall fell…though he adds it came at a cost. . .
Fuchs says a few parts of the state…such as south of North Platte to the Kansas border along the Republican River are still dry. . .
Drought still plagues a third of the country, especially the southwestern and western United States.
