Recent concern that drought conditions might creep back into Iowa have been washed away by continued and sometimes heavy rainfalls. Tim Hall of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the water picture is much different now than it was in April.
Hall says most of the severe drought conditions in the U-S are now west of the Rocky Mountains. Northwest Iowa is the only area of the state that is showing drier than normal conditions right now.
Heavy rains last week caused flash flooding and now streamflow conditions are above normal for three quarters of the state. Hall says there could be more of the flash flooding in the future if things stay wet.
