Drivers Beware, Deer on the Move

The next several weeks is a critical time for all drivers. Nebraska Game and Parks spokesperson Greg Wagner says it is deer mating season and they ae on the move. He says pay extra attention to deer crossing signs, especially when it is dark.

Wagner says if you see a deer on the road, don’t swerve. That increases your chances of hitting another car, ending up in a ditch or rolling the vehicle. Slow down, pay extra attention and keep your eyes moving to try to spot deer.

Wagner says deer are most active starting at dusk and then through the overnight hours.
