Dakota Rural Action’s SoDak Grown Punch Card program has expanded this year from Sioux Falls to over 12 locations in the state. DRA’s Stephanie Peterson says a major goal of the program is to bring producers and consumers closer together and get South Dakota grown food out to those consumers.

She says it’s a very simple program where consumers pick up a card and then have that card punched when they purchase a locally grown South Dakota item.

She says at the end of the month they take all the cards that have been collected, hold a drawing and then distribute gift cards to the consumers from local businesses. Peterson says the SoDak Grown Punch Card program should help with dealing with Food Insecurity and helping people get that food.

Six of the over dozen retailers that offer the punch card program are located in Sioux Falls, Vermillion, Brandon Valley, Brookings, Hot Springs and Pierre.
