The two Minnesota Twins players named to the American League All Star squad played key roles in their team’s win over the National League Tuesday night.
Brian Dozier made his All Star debut a memorable one with a pinch hit home run in the eighth inning. Dozier becomes just the third Minnesota Twin ever to homer in the All Star game, joining Harmon Killebrew and Kirby Puckett.
Dozier’s blast gave his team a 6-2 lead going into the ninth and meant Twins closer Glen Perkins would not have a save opportunity when he pitched the ninth. Perkins gave up one run before closing out the 6-3 American League win.
The Twins are off until Friday when they open a weekend series in Oakland.
