Three volleyball players from Dordt have swept the weekly honors in that sport for the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Attacker – Brooke Granstra, Dordt College (Middle Blocker)
Brooke Granstra of Dordt is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Granstra, a senior, from Sioux Center, Iowa, helped lead the Defenders to a pair of wins in conference play totaling 41 kills for the week while hitting .354. She averaged nearly five kills per set in a win over third-ranked Midland and was instrumental in the tenth-ranked Defenders’ rally from a 0-2 deficit to defeat Briar Cliff on the road on Tuesday.
Setter – Jamie Gesink, Dordt College
Jamie Gesink of Dordt is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Gesink, a sophomore from Sioux Center, Iowa, averaged 10.11 assists per set, in a pair of wins, including 45 assists in a victory of third-ranked Midland. For the week she also added 19 digs,6 kills, 4 blocks and a pair of ace serves for the Defenders.
Defender – Jill Schouten, Dordt College (Defensive Specialist)
Dordt College defensive specialist Jill Schouten is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Schouten, a senior from Sioux Center, Iowa, had 47 digs while helping the Defenders to a 2-0 record this past week. She has tallied 310 digs so far this season averaging almost four digs per set.
