United Way and the Yankton Volunteer Leaders Group have teamed up for the 18th annual Coat and Winter Wear Giveaway on October 25th. The event is designed to help families who may not have the ability to buy winter clothes. Lauren Hanson is the executive director for United Way in Yankton, and she says the giveaway is only possible with the community collection drive.

The event is how the community celebrates Make a Difference Day, which is a nationwide event. She says there are several locations where donations can be taken.

The giveaway on October 25th will be at the South Training Center at the Human Services Center campus from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Not only will families be able to pick up needed winter clothes, but other services will be available for child development and health services.
