The Heartland Humane Society on East Highway 50 in Yankton has received a third donation from the Otto Ullrich Memorial Trust. The $25,000 donation puts the HHS past the halfway mark of their $750,000 goal to build and renovate the former Yankton Motor Company building.
Kerry Hacecky is the Executive Director for HHS and says this donation will improve the canine adoption process…
Hacecky says right now the facility is about 35% finished with limited space for cat kennels and a few veterinary services…
She says when the facility is finished, they plan to house between 700 to 900 animals each year and hope to continue as one of just a few shelters in the state to spay and neuter every animal they receive. The shelter needs just over $300,000 away from reaching their goal.
