Inmate handlers and trainers from the Nebraska State Penitentiary and Lincoln Correctional Center recently provided four young people with Epileptic Response Dogs. The dogs have undergone almost two years of training provided by inmates, with the help of community volunteers as part of the non-profit organization, Domesti-Pups

That’s Ladena Koch (pronounced cook), she’s a training specialist with Domesti-pups. She says the program helps keep the inmates out of trouble since they have to be on their best behavior to remain in the program.

Koch says it also gives them an opportunity to give back to their community

Koch says the inmates are kept up to date on the dogs’ progress with their recipients. If you want to help Domesti-Pups, visit their website domesti-pups.org
