United States Department of Justice officials aren’t satisfied with Bayer’s plan to get antitrust approval for their merger with Monsanto. Organization for Competitive Markets Executive Director Joe Maxwell agrees with DOJ and is pleased the merger is being held up and scrutinized.
He says one of the major concerns is if the merger is approved America’s farmers will pay higher prices for seed and crop protection products.
Justice Department officials told Bayer their proposal to sell off assets doesn’t go far enough to ensure competition and Maxwell agrees.
Maxwell says his group will continue to oppose the merger and tell the Department of Justice that if its approved it will harm both consumers and farmers.
