A District judge in Lincoln has overturned the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission ruling that denied liquor licenses to four stores in tiny Whiteclay.
Lancaster County Judge Andrew Jacobsen ruled the commission decision was “arbitrary and unreasonable.”
State Senator Tom Brewer of Gordon had worked to shut down the stores and improve the village in northwestern Nebraska. . .
Brewer says he’s disappointed in the judge’s decision, but points out the Attorney General has several charges pending against the stores. . .
The four beer stores have long been accused of allowing beer to cross the state line and get to the officially dry Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, creating alcoholism and poverty.
