It appears there will be a Senate race in District 18 this year. Democrat Craig Kennedy had filed last month for the seat being vacated by Senator Bernie Hunhoff. No republican filed before the party deadline.
Today, Matt Stone of Yankton filed to run as an independent. He had run as a republican against Hunhoff for the Senate seat in 2014.
