Candidates for District 18 legislative seats debated the issues last night (Tuesday) at a forum sponsored by the Yankton  Area Chamber of Commerce.

The House candidates were asked what they saw as the major issue for the 2015 South Dakota legislature. Republican Mike Stevens said for him, it was education funding…

 

Democrat Jay Williams also pointed to education funding, saying the state has the money to do better…

 

Republican Jean Hunhoff said there are several important issues, but finding the money to fund them is critical…

 

Democrat Terry Winter said he sees education funding as the prime issue…

 

Two of the four candidates will be elected to the House. Stevens is an incumbent, Hunhoff is attempting to move from the Senate to the House.
