The South Dakota State Railroad Board and the former lease holder of the Napa – Platte rail line could be headed to court over control of that line.
Rail Board Chairman Todd Yeaton says they added an extension to the current lease of the line to Dakota Southern Railroad…
The Napa – Platte Regional Rail Authority had their lease pulled by the state board in an effort to get traffic moving on the line.
Yeaton says they disagreed with the direction of the regional rail authority…..
Yeaton says the federal Surface Transportation Board is also involved in the line…..
Yeaton says he doesn’t know if the dispute will end up in court. He did say the disagreement won’t have an effect on service on the line, or the operation of the new Dakota Plains loading facility at Napa Junction.
