The Yankton County Office of Emergency Management is giving area residents the chance to learn skills needed in a disaster to better prepare the community. Paul Scherschligt is the Director for the office and says the Community Emergency Response Team is designed to assist in a disaster when emergency services can’t respond quickly enough.
The classes will feature skills ranging from fire and structure safety, to medical and psychological care that may be needed in the event of a disaster. Scherschligt says anyone over 18 can participate on the team, but everyone is invited to learn…
The training begins October 23rd at 6:30 at the Yankton EMS Training Facility and will continue with eight additional classes.
