South Dakota legislators have only a few days to put together and approve the 2021 budget.

Senator Reynold Nesiba of Sioux Falls, a member of the Joint Appropriations Committee, says he is afraid the budget will fall short….

Nesiba, a democrat, says budget writers took the lowest revenue estimates….

Nesiba says those estimates will fall short of what they need…

Those big three are schools, state employees and Medicaid providers. Nesiba says the budget writers should have funded those increases first and then worked back on other parts of the budget.
