South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says supporting the general sales tax reduction passed by the legislature “will be tough.”

Legislators agreed on reducing the general sales tax from four point five to four point two percent, rather than the full cut of sales tax on groceries the Governor supported.

Noem, at a bill signing in Mitchell this week, said anyone who says it’s a tax cut “just isn’t telling the truth.”

Senate Majority Leader Casey Crabtree of Madison says there is broad support for the action they took….

Crabtree says they will wait and see if the Governor vetoes the budget bill as she has threatened….

Crabtree says legislators have a lot of concern about the economy in the future…

Legislators return to Pierre on March 27th for veto day.
