The Dietary Guidelines for Americans Advisory Committee issued their recommendations for 2020. In their report, the Committee recommended eggs as an important first food for infants and toddlers as well as for pregnant and lactating women. They also recommended eggs for pre-teens and adolescents. National Association of Egg Farmers President Ken Klippen says his group is every encouraged by the Advisory Committee’s findings.

He says the committee’s report outlined clearly the health benefits of eggs in all American’s diets.

The Committee’s study also reaffirmed an earlier study by Harvard University that eating eggs is not associated with cardiovascular disease.

Klippen says the Advisory Committee reinforced evidence that dietary chlolesterol is not a nutrient of concern.

The Dietary Advisory Committee comes out with their recommendations every five years.
