Environmental groups are using the courts to argue against renewing approval of dicamba. And now some seed companies are asking for stricter regulations for it. That’s according to Minnesota Dicamba Task Force Chairman Bob Worth who serves on the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association Board.
He’s concerned because the EPA is requiring one size fits all with the dicamba registration requirement they’re coming out with.
Worth says most states have different cutoff dates for when producers can or cannot apply dicamba. He says Minnesota’s is June 20 and North Dakota’s is June 30 and that’s far different than what southern states require. Worth says the key to using dicamba properly lies with education which has worked well in Minnesota.
EPA is expected to announce its decision on the renewal of dicamba registration by October.
